Aim
Our aim is to provide "genuinely affordable" housing in perpetuity for people who live, have lived or work in the parish of Horsted Keynes
About us
Start up
The Horsted Keynes Community Land Trust (CLT) Feasibility Group was set up in June 2018 with a view to providing some genuinely affordable housing for local people in the parish.
Community Engagement
In November 2018 we held two community engagement events which were well attended and people were generally very supportive of this initiative.
Our next step is to hold a launch event in the Village Hall on
Wednesday 27 November at 7.30pm
Housing Need Survey
In April 2019 we commissioned Action in rural Sussex (AIRS) to carry out a detailed Housing Needs Survey in the parish. Full and summary versions of their report on the findings of this survey are available (see Documents).
Local Need
The results of the survey suggest the need, initially, for a small community-led housing scheme of approximately 6-9 dwellings.
Potential Site
Over the last few years our feasibility group has been engaging with the landowner’s agent and developer for the Police House Field site, which was recommended for planning approval earlier this year. We have also teamed up with a Registered Provider for affordable housing. They have recently received very encouraging news that they are preferred bidder, with HKCLT, to acquire the affordable homes within that development.
National CLT Network
We have joined the National CLT Network and further information can be found on their website about CLT’s and community-led housing schemes (see Further Info)
Legal Status
We have now incorporated as a Community Benefit Socitey.
